Was not paying attention to much but Couture looked impressive against Coleman, saying that he still needs another big win if I am going to find him believe to challenge for the title. Ortiz squawking at Coleman made me laugh as well.

To bad for NATE THE GREAT as he probably should have got the title shot that Belfort is getting and now he will not be getting that rematch for a very long time. Not the most exciting fight but Sonnen was impressive and kudos to him on a huge win.

I agree with Trigg needing to GTFO and pretty sad at Dan Miller not winning.

I was gonna tell you to save your money but it turned out to be a pretty decent event. Certainly better than it had any right to be given the match ups.

Couture looked good. Sure it was against Mark Coleman but I don't want to discredit Couture. A guy who still has "it" should dominate someone like Coleman (who is clearly past "it") and he did just that. So that was good to see.

Extremely impressive performance by Sonnen. And he won me some good cash.

Thiago is starting to prove that it wasn't a fluke when he beat Koscheck and really that's good for the UFC because it takes the sting out of the Koscheck loss.

Maia showed some much improved striking. I thought this fight would suck because Miller would keep it standing and while it wasn't a great fight, it was a good performance by Maia and one he really needed.

Anytime Trigg gets KO'd I'm a happy man.

Also Phil Davis looked like a monster at Light Heavyweight. He has the build and athletic ability of Randleman in his prime but he's already surpassed him in the skill department.

Not a blow away event but if you came into it with low expectations (and who didn't?) then it certainly surpassed them.

Paulo Thiago is a monster. I was one of those people who probably was underrating him and overrating Swick but I really thought Swick is better then he is I guess. Thiago is very well rounded and it seems like you said, that knockout against Kos was not just all luck because he definitely has some skill with his hands. A guy with good KO power and a black belt in judo & BJJ makes for a scary dude in that division.

I think Thiago fights Serra next. That seems to be the "common sense" fight.

I'm expanding on this in the column but I feel bad for Dan Hardy. Everyone he beat (with the except of Markham, who hasn't fought again) has gone of to lose their next fight (Gono ended up released) and his last two opponents (Davis and Swick) ended up getting finished while Hardy could only get a decision victory. It's like UFC really needs to sell Dan Hardy as this guy who has a chance against GSP (even though he doesn't) but all of his wins have luster taken off of them because the guys he beat just kept losing and the guys they lost to after Hardy looked more impressive than Hardy in victory.

That's why Thiago continuing to win is good for UFC in selling Koscheck if he ends up getting the next shot. Makes his loss look not as bad. Of course Koscheck is helping himself as well by finishing opponents so even if they lose their next fight (Trigg) it doesn't diminish what Koscheck did. Same goes for Paul Daley.

That's about the only way to spin it but I don't know who buys it. Hardy has nothing more than a punchers chance but now his power comes into question because he couldn't KO Davis or Swick while Saunders and Thiago could.

The good thing about Dan Hardy is that he's an awesome trash talker and a really smart guy so he'll be able to sell himself for the most part. He needs to play the Frank Mir role leading up to the fight. Sell that you're going to win but sell it in a way that makes everyone hate you so they pay to watch you get your ass kicked. No one does that better than Mir so Hardy should take notes.

just watched this. i think im going to wait a day for now on. got a great quality download, so it was worth waiting for it. better than a shit stream, for paying 45 bucks for.

- Couture looked great. Landed plenty of strikes, including some great straights and uppercuts. He had his way with Coleman.

- Coleman looks finished. So much for that new training cap that Amp was speaking of. Shawn Tompkins didn't seem to add much to his arsenal. Which is suprising, considering Tompkins used to be close to Couture. You think he'd have some tips on defeating Couture, for Coleman.

- Sonnen, great performance. He made Marquadt look like a bitch. Which is no easy task. Nate's not the best wrestler, but he's serviceable in grappling. And Sonnen completely negated that. Very impressed by Sonnen. He's ready for a title shot.

-Paulo Thiago with good work. Didn't see much in the standup, but that was a great counter hook. And it was enough. Good awareness to lock in a d'Arce choke.

-Phil Davis. Dominating wrestling, and control. Another All-American, Champion wrestler joins the UFC and impresses in debut. I'd like to see a bit more technique in striking, and advancements in BJJ. But that will happen with time. At 25, he's got a base to grow with. Definitely another LHW to keep an eye on.

The LHW division is just churning out guys. So many quality fighters. It's going to be great to see how the LHW shakes out throughout the upcoming months. Should be plenty of great fights.

- Maia's got newly-improved striking! That means he's mediocre! Eh, not the fight I was hoping for. I wanted to see a slick sub.

- Serra vs Trigg. Meh. Good power by Serra. Trigg sucks.

Sonnen knows how to talk. I like that. Spoken like a true politician. I believe he said he wanted to fight Anderson over Vitor, because Anderson is an easier fight. Ballsy shit-talk, considering he's shit-talking one of the top three MMA fighters of the past 3 years.
